Cover of the book

“We are entering winter these days as if a gloomy cycle came into being.”

(Excerpt from November by Sándor Márai – Translated by Diána Göncz)

“We remember the light which is hopelessly missing from our lives, which has something pagan and cruel within, something immoral and great, just like in life.”

(Excerpt from February by Sándor Márai – Translated by Diána Göncz)

“This time, waters of spas eject their sparkling temper, they are rushing to the depth, among rocks, with hot sizzling, full of fresh, miraculous potence.”

(Excerpt from April by Sándor Márai – Translated by Diána Göncz)

“Only the journey is important, this levitation, two states, between home and the infinite, between intimate and dangerous.”

(Excerpt from April by Sándor Márai – Translated by Diána Göncz)

“It’s merely about garden flowers still blooming in the valley and the twenty-odd year old poet gets a sense of aging, evanescence and the unbearability of love. Above all this, the complete universe is inside, and everything that a human being feels about life and death.”

(Excerpt from April by Sándor Márai – Translated by Diána Göncz)
